According to previous reporting, Mobile Police Chief Paul Prine was placed on administrative leave following allegations that questioned his leadership and policies.

A report from U.S. Attorney Kenyen Brown that delved into the policies and training surrounding six cases was released to the public last night.

Prine was originally placed on administrative leave pending the report after he brought allegations against the Administration.

The Mobile City Council will vote on Prine’s termination in their meeting next Tuesday.

William Jackson was chosen as the interim chief in Prine’s absence. He issued the following statement where he discussed the future of his time working with the department and the Kenyen Brown report:

“I’m proud to work beside the men and women of the Mobile Police Department. Our officers exhibit the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and bravery every day while keeping our citizens safe,” Jackson said. “Over the last 24 hours, I’ve taken the time to review Mr. Brown’s full report and discuss it with the MPD command staff.

“While I don’t agree with all of the report’s findings, we are going to take a hard look at every recommendation. We are currently in the process of forming two committees to help determine a pathway forward.

“An internal committee made up of MPD leadership and staff will take each recommendation into consideration and come up with a plan of action. That plan would then be reviewed by an external committee made up of community members as well as professionals with a criminal justice background.

“I have full confidence in the MPD command staff to maintain the morale and discipline of the department as we move forward, ensuring that we continue to be among the best agencies in the country.”
