Inmate pleads guilty to possessing a weapon at FCI Beckley

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — An inmate pleaded guilty to being in possession of a weapon at FCI Beckley.

Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Beckley inmate 27-year-old Jonathan Webb, pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon by an inmate at a federal prison.

According to court documents, a staff member at FCI Beckley found a handcrafted weapon referred to as a “shank” in Webb’s right front pants pocket during a pat-down search. The shank was made of a piece of metal around six inches long with a sharpened point and cloth handle.

Webb revealed that he did have the shank, and that it was made with the purpose of being used as a weapon.

Webb’s sentencing is scheduled for July 12, 2024, and he faces up to five years in prison, three years of parole, and a $250,000 fine.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Will Thompson, who praised the Federal Bureau of Prisons for their work on the investigation.
