‘It’s indescribable’ People from near and far visit Batesville for total solar eclipse

BATESVILLE, Ark. – In Batesville, there were many people excited over the total solar eclipse at Lyon College as they held their Scots in the Dark event celebrating the totality.

During the totality, two men said it was a moment they would never forget.

“I’m excited about this, you can’t take your eyes off of it really, it’s wonderful,” one man said.

While the other man said, “it’s humbling, that’s all I can say. I’m speechless.”

At Lyon College, many events were set up for the eclipse, including food trucks, games, music, educational pieces and more.

Some people came from near and far states like Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Colorado and California.

Searcy hosts Star Wars-themed festival for total solar eclipse

A woman from Memphis said she came to the college because of what it had to offer during the eclipse.

“There’s lots of space, lots of things to do, activities planned,” she said.

While another woman said it was great to share the event with hundreds of people.

“I just feel like a very small spectator of a very large event,” she said.

One family from Mississippi said the total solar eclipse was a bonding experience they will forever share.

“It’s indescribable,” the mother said.
