Illinois arrives in Boston eyeing Elite Eight appearance

BOSTON, Mass. (WCIA) — The Illini got a workout Wednesday afternoon at TD Garden with a 90-minute practice on the court, home of the Celtics and Bruins.

In a building rich with history, Illinois hopes to hang a championship banner of their own, taking on two-seed Iowa State for a spot in the Elite Eight. According to Kenpom, the Cyclones have the best defense in the country compared to Illinois’s top-ranked offense.

“Playing in Boston in the Celtics arena in front of however many this building holds so it’s going to be an awesome day, an awesome experience.” said Illinois guard Luke Goode. “At the end of the day it’s just another basketball game. Same ball, same hoop we’ve been playing on all year.”

Illinois tips off on Thursday night around 9:09 p.m. following the conclusion of the UConn-San Diego State game.
