Illini Athletics announces another watch party for Illini basketball

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Following Thursday night’s watch party for Illini basketball, Illinois Athletics is doing it again.

The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics announced that it will host another party at State Farm Center for the Illini men’s Elite 8 matchup on Saturday. The team will face UConn, the defending national champions and the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament.

Just like Thursday’s party, admission will be free and people of all ages are welcome to attend. The first 350 people will get a free hot dog with the concession stands open for other dinner options and drink specials. At halftime, there will be crowd participation contests like knockout and trivia.

Fans are again asked to park in the northwest and southwest lots of State Farm Center and enter through the west main lobby. The clear bag policy will also be in effect.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with tip-off at 5:09 p.m.

The Illini Union is also holding an Elite 8 watch party at the Courtyard Cafe, starting at 4:30 p.m. The event will include snacks and giveaways at halftime.
