Boise police have announced the arrest of escaped inmate Skylar Meade and shooting suspect Nicholas Umphenour.

The two were arrested in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Thursday after a vehicle pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies. According to a press release from Boise police, there’s an ongoing investigation into two homicides “that are potentially tied to the escape.”

The homicides occurred in Nez Perce County and Clearwater County and involved adult male victims. No further information is available.

Meade, who has been incarcerated for aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer with a firearm enhancement, escaped from a local area hospital where Idaho corrections officers took him for medical treatment. Boise Police Chief Ron Winegar said during a press conference that Meade “is a documented gang member and with the Aryan Knights.”

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Umphenour on two charges of aggravated battery against law enforcement and one charge of aiding and abetting an escape.

Boise police said that three officers were injured during the incident on Wednesday morning. It’s alleged two officers were injured by one of the suspects shooting at them and the third was injured when another officer discharged his weapon at an armed individual near the entrance. The individual was later identified as the third corrections officer.

“Law enforcement believes the capture was successful due to the hundreds of tips from the public and the multiple responding law enforcement agencies,” the release said.
