Hydrogen Peroxide mouthwash recalled for risk of poisoning
(WHTM) — More than 100,000 bottles of hydrogen peroxide mouthwash are being recalled due to a risk of poisoning and a violation of child-resistant packaging requirements.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, there are 102,100 bottles of Nutraceutical’s Heritage Store brand hydrogen peroxide mouthwash that must have child-resistant packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act.
The commission says that because the current packaging is not child-resistant and the recalled mouthwash poses a risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.
The recall affects Heritage Store mouthwash sold in Wintermint and Eucalyptus Mint flavors. The bottles are a dark opaque brown with a white lid and a pink and white label on the front. The bottles display the Heritage Store logo, product name and flavor.
All lots are included in the recall, according to the commission.
Consumers are being told to move the recalled mouthwash to a safe location out of reach and sight of children and to contact the Nutraceutical Corporation for a full refund or free replacement, depending on availability.
