Husband of Florida woman who vanished in Spain denied bond: report

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The husband of the missing Florida woman who vanished from her apartment in Spain a few months ago was denied bond by a Miami judge on Friday, according to NBC affiliate WTVJ.

David Knezevich, the estranged husband of Ana Maria Henao Knezevich, had a pre-trial detention hearing on Friday following his arrest last weekend after landing at Miami International Airport from Serbia.

He was arrested and charged with kidnapping in connection with his wife’s disappearance. WTVJ reported that David was called a flight risk due to his means and significant ties to Serbia.

Knezevich was last seen on Feb. 2 leaving her Madrid apartment. Court documents showed David closely resembled a man who spray-painted a security camera outside of her residence.

The man was seen roughly an hour later, leaving the area with a suitcase. An eyewitness said David rented a vehicle with tinted windows and changed the tags, according to WTVJ.

An FBI agent also revealed that blood was found in her apartment.

The pair had been married for 13 years but were separated, and Ana Maria left for Spain in December because she felt her life was threatened by David, according to WTVJ.

On Wednesday, her family spoke out, pleading for her safe return and for anyone with information to come forward.

“We still have hope that we can find where my sister is,” Knezevich’s brother, Felipe Henao said. “If she’s out there, we want to tell her we love her, we miss her, we support her, we hear her voice.”
