Huntsville Utilities warns customers of telephone scam

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Utilities is warning its customers about a telephone scam that is asking for personal financial information.

In a Facebook post, the company said the callers are claiming that you have overpaid on your utility bill and they need your bank information in order to issue a refund.

If you receive a call, please hang up. If you believe you have been the victim of said scam, contact your financial institution and local law enforcement immediately.

Huntsville Utilities urges its customers too inform friends and family, especially the elderly, those who are not tech-savvy and those who’s primary language is not English.
