Huntley carnival canceled amid ‘logistical and safety concerns’

HUNTLEY, Ill. — This weekend’s Citius Illinois Baseball and More Brewing carnival in far northwest suburban Huntley has been canceled.

Officials cited “logistical and safety concerns” for the abrupt cancellation of the event, which had been scheduled for May 3-5.

The Huntley Police Department posted the news on Facebook without elaborating on specific concerns. The move, however, comes just days after the Cabin Fever Carnival put on by the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce closed early and was ultimately canceled due to ‘overcrowding.’

In that case, officials said “a significant number of unchaperoned teenagers, with intentions to disrupt and cause trouble, descended upon the Carnival and shopping centers in the area.”
