Power restored to most by morning after severe thunderstorms in Western Pennsylvania
Hundreds of people lost power as thunderstorms rolled through the Western Pennsylvania area Saturday afternoon. By Sunday morning, most communities had the utility back.

UPDATE SUNDAY 7:30 a.m.
Power has been restored to nearly all people in western Pennsylvania, according to the Duquesne Light Company and Penn Power outage maps.
The only outstanding areas with active outages are Mercer and Westmoreland counties, where according to Penn Power, 576 and 166 people are without power, respectively.
UPDATE 10:45 p.m.
Crews have made a lot of progress since severe thunderstorms started rolling through the area on Saturday. Duquesne Light Company’s remaining power outages are:
Aliquippa: 1 outage
Greene: 12 outages
Hanover: 40 outages
Harmony: 16 outages
Indiana: 44 outages
Penn Power outages are also decreasing.
The highest numbers are in Fayette County with 117 power outages and Washington County with 184 power outages.
UPDATE 7:00 p.m.
As of 7:00 p.m., Duquesne Light Company’s total number of power outages had increased to 1,624. The areas with some of the highest outages were:
Baden: 273 outages
Economy: 68 outages
Hanover: 28 outages
Indiana: 173 outages
Ross: 980 outages
Shaler: 29 outages
Penn Power also saw an increase in reported outages. Their current number of outages are:
Allegheny County: 212 outages
Fayette County: 101 outages
Lawrence County: 42 outages
Washington County: 328 outages
Westmoreland County: 117 outages
As of 3:40 p.m., Duquesne Light Company reported that 1,262 of their customers had lost power. Some areas with the largest power outages were:
Baden - 168 outages
Economy - 32 outages
Fox Chapel - 280 outages
Ross Township - 693 outages
West Mifflin - 16 outages
Whitaker - 24 outages

In Washington County, 173 Penn Power customers were without power.
