Hugo Selenski’s prison escape partner facing assault charges

DURYEA, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man who tried to escape the Luzerne County Prison with Hugo Selenski in 2003 is accused of assaulting a woman with a wooden plank.

According to the Duryea Police Department, just before 7:30 a.m. on Thursday officers were called to the 300 block of McAlpine Street in Duryea for a reported assault.

Once on the scene, police say the victim claimed she met a man identified as Scott Bolton, 60, Carbondale Township, at a tavern in Moscow Wednesday night. The woman said she left the tavern with Bolton who drove her to a house on McAlpine Street and after a short time, Bolton wanted her out of the house, officers stated.

The victim claimed Bolton refused to return her cell phone and she stayed on the porch. That’s when Bolton struck her in the arm with a wooden plank, as stated in the affidavit.

Investigators say they were not able to locate Bolton at the scene Thursday. Bolton has been charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, and theft.

Bolton is known for attempting to escape the fifth floor of the maximum security at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility almost 21 years ago with Hugo Selensk on October 10, 2003. The two removed a flawed cell window and tossed out 15 tied-together bedsheets.

Selenski escaped and later surrendered, while Bolton was found injured on a roof at the end of the bedsheet rope.
