These Will Be the Huge Food Trends of 2017

According to Whole Foods.

As you stroll through the aisles of Whole Foods next year, you will probably be seeing a lot more purple. Nope, it's not to commemorate Prince, though that would be pretty cool. It's to meet the increasing demand for antioxidant and nutrient-rich foods like purple cauliflower, black rice, purple asparagus, elderberries, acai, purple sweet potatoes, purple corn, and cereal.

Healthy and delicious? Say no more.

Some brands to look out for include Back to the Roots Purple Corn Cereal, Jackson’s Honest Purple Heirloom Potato Chips, Que Pasa Purple Corn Tortilla Chips, Love Beets, and Stokes Purple Sweet Potatoes-so write those down on your next shopping list.

In a press release, Whole Foods also said that wellness tonics will be everywhere next year. What the heck is a wellness tonic? It’s a super healthy drink that takes fresh-pressed juice one step further by including botanicals with roots in alternative medicine. Some ingredients to get familiar with are kava, Tulsi/holy basil, turmeric, apple cider vinegar, medicinal mushrooms, and adaptogenic herbs. Don’t know where to start? Some of the brands leading the way are Kor Organic Raw Shots, Suja Drinking Vinegars, and Temple Turmeric Elixirs.

But that’s not it-in 2017, you can also expect to see foods created from byproducts, Japanese food (beyond sushi), creative condiments, pasta alternatives, personalized meal plans, and on-the-go beauty products.

Something tells us we’re going to be spending a lot of time at Whole Foods in the coming year...
