Houston Zoo Celebrates Earth Day With Tour of Eco-Friendly Facilities
Texas’s Houston Zoo was celebrating Earth Day by releasing a video tour of some of its eco-friendly facilities.
In a statement, the zoo said it was showing “its commitment to sustainability and conservation efforts with a series of initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental footprint.”
Some of the new initiatives included an administrative headquarters “designed to use 24 percent less energy than a standard office building,” a transition to LED lighting, eco-friendly plush animal toys made from recycled materials, and collecting electronic devices for recycling, according to a press release.
