Hot weather continues through the weekend, storm chances increase next week

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Hot temperatures will continue through the next few days. South winds have been persistent, bringing in low-level moisture and increasing humidity.

Temperatures will fall back into the mid-upper 70s tonight with partly cloudy skies. We rise tomorrow back into the lower 90s with heat index values approaching 100 degrees.

Sunny and hot weather continues for our weekend as highs top out in the 91-93 degree range under mostly sunny skies. A weak front approaches the area by the early parts of next week. Indications suggest this front could stall across the area with multiple waves of upper-level energy moving overhead. This will lead to the chance of afternoon storms Monday through Thursday. Increasing cloud cover and storms could bring down high temperatures in the upper 80s.
