Horizon Elementary School placed on lockdown for alleged shooting threats

Horizon Elementary School in the 7900 block of Monitor Street was placed on lockdown around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after a school administrator told officers the school received a shooting threat, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

According to BPD, officers swept the campus and ensured the area was safe. BPD remained on campus to help the school release students to their parents during dismissal.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on the incident can call BPD at 661-327-7111.
