Hopper wins Gorman Jones Campus Leadership Award

May 3—WILLIAMSBURG — The Gorman Jones Campus Leadership Award is given to a graduating senior who has exemplified the roles and qualities of leadership on campus while maintaining high academic standing.

Haleigh Hopper is a senior from Barbourville. She is the daughter of Joe and Beth Hopper. She is a biology major with minors in missions and ministry and communication arts.

An active member of campus at University of the Cumberlands, Haleigh has served as an officer for the Pre-Health Club and Gamma Sigma Epsilon chemistry honor society and is a member of the Beta Beta Beta biology honor society. She has worked as a teaching assistant for cell biology lectures for three years and as a lab teaching assistant for multiple chemistry lab courses.

As a Christian, Haleigh has a heart for serving others. She volunteers with Appalachian ministries with at-risk young children and has participated in the University of Kentucky student dental clinics and the UK PEPP dental training program.

Haleigh has been accepted to the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and plans to start dental school this fall. She plans to return to her hometown after becoming a general dentist.
