Hop to it! Here’s when, where to find Easter egg hunts across Centre County, PA in 2024

Believe it or not, spring has sprung. Although cold temperatures and flurries are lingering in Centre County, the next few weekends are set to be packed with spring-themed fun thanks to an early Easter holiday in 2024.

Hunting for Easter eggs is one of the biggest draws of the spring season. Here’s a brief look at what’s in store around Centre County before Easter Sunday arrives March 31.

Egg hunts in Centre County

Near State College

  • Christ Community Church will host its annual Easter egg hunt from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at C3 Sports State College. Upon registration, guests will be entered into a raffle to win a free bounce house birthday party at C3 Sports State College. Register online at cccsc.org/egghunt.

  • YMCA of Centre County will host an underwater egg hunt for children of all ages. In segmented age groups, children will swim through the pool to find eggs above and below the water. The event, free and open to the public, will stretch from roughly noon to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24. Visit ymcaofcentrecounty.org/event/underwater-egg-hunt-state-college-2 to register.

  • State College Alliance Church and Blue Course Community Church are teaming up to host egg hunts of their own Saturday, March 30 at 1243 Blue Course Drive in State College. Guests are welcome to attend two identical egg hunts at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and enjoy face painting, inflatables and more.

  • Port Matilda’s community egg hunt is scheduled for Saturday, March 30 at the Port Matilda Community Park. Registration opens at 11:30 a.m. before the egg hunt starts around 1 p.m. Also offered are raffle baskets, a 50/50 fundraiser and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

  • Skills and Friends Social Club and Houserville House of Hope are again teaming up to host and sponsor a free egg hunt for children and adults with disabilities. The event is offered from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at Houserville United Methodist Church at 1320 Houserville Road in State College.

  • Centre Region Parks and Recreation will host a flashlight egg hunt for teens from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center. Register and learn more at crpr.org/special-events.

  • Centre Region Parks and Recreation will also host Egg My Yard, a more private offering through which the Easter Bunny visits homes in the State College borough and College, Ferguson, Harris and Patton townships to hide eggs. The cost for this event is tied to how many eggs are hidden. Registration is open until March 22 before “egging” takes place March 28 or 29. You can also choose to donate an “egging” to a local family in need.

  • Fairbrook United Methodist Church will host its annual egg hunt starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at 4201 W. Whitehall Road. Bring your own baskets or bags for this rain-or-shine event.

  • Centre Pointe Church will sponsor a free egg hunt at 133 Mount Nittany Road in Lemont at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30.

Near Bellefonte

  • Freedom Life Church will host a glow-in-the-dark egg hunt from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 23. Families can enjoy activities like face painting, balloon animals, games and more before the Bald Eagle Area High School football field transforms into an “egg haven” after sunset, event organizers say. Some eggs will include certificates for exclusive prizes like bicycles, stuffed animals and even a television. This free event is open to all families and children up to the fifth grade, and advance registration is not required. A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, March 24.

  • Runville United Methodist Church will host its own egg hunt at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at 1216 Runville Road in Bellefonte.

  • The Greater Buffalo Run Valley United Methodist Church, with the Child Evangelism Fellowship, will host an egg hut at the Benner Township Municipal Building (1224 Buffalo Run Road in Bellefonte). Guests of all ages are welcome at the free event, which stretches from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 23.

  • Centre County Library and Historical Museum will host an egg hunt for families with children ages 8 and younger from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 29.

  • Bellefonte’s community Easter egg hunt is set for Saturday, March 30 at Talleyrand Park. Families can enjoy activities before the egg hunt, free for all children younger than 12 years old, begins at 2 p.m.

  • Milesburg United Methodist Church will host its annual community egg hunt starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30. Hunts are available for three age groups, according to the event page.

  • Walker Township’s community egg hunt is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30.

Near Boalsburg

  • Calvary Harvest Fields, located at 150 Harvest Fields Drive in Boalsburg, will host a free community breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23 before a 10 a.m. egg hunt.

Near Centre Hall and Pleasant Gap

  • Gregg Township Fire Co.’s annual egg hunt is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at 3865 Penns Valley Road in Spring Mills. Admission is free for children at this event, which will also feature prizes, candy and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

  • The Pleasant Gap Lioness Lions Club’s Easter egg hunt returns to the Pleasant Gap Carnival Grounds at 475 Robinson Lane Saturday, March 30. Registration opens at 8 a.m. before egg hunts for four different age groups kick off around 9 a.m. An additional egg hunt is scheduled for noon, intended for those using walkers and wheelchairs or with disabilities.

  • Poe Valley State Park is once again offering its own spin on an egg hunt with riddles, clue-collecting and more intrigue. Follow hints from the Easter Bunny’s winged and feathered friends to find eggs while learning about local birds. This hunt is designed for children 5 years and older, and some younger children may need adult assistance. The event starts at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at 136 Poe Valley Park Circle in Coburn.

Near Philipsburg

Near Snow Shoe

  • Snow Shoe Fire Co. will host an egg hunt for children in the sixth grade and younger at Snow Shoe Park. The hunt, which begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, will include a visit from the Easter Bunny, according to a flyer.

  • Clarence Moose Lodge at 851 Clarence Road will host a free adult egg hunt at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 30. Guests are advised to bring a flashlight.

  • Clarence Moose Lodge will also host its annual egg hunt for kids in the fifth grade and under starting at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 31. No advance registration is needed for this free event.
