Honor Flight seeking veterans for D.C. trip

Apr. 16—Honor Flight of Northern New Mexico is looking for World War II and Korean War veterans to sign up to take a free trip to Washington, D.C. in June. The flight has a waiting list of Vietnam War veterans wanting to go on the trip, Honor Flight spokeswoman Shirley Johnson said in an interview.

The nonprofit program, founded in New Mexico in 2013 by private citizens, offers military veterans from the World War II, Korea and Vietnam eras flights to Washington, D.C., as well as free room and meals so they can view the many memorials erected to honor their service.

The deadline for World War II and Korean War veterans to sign up for the trip is April 21. The trip takes place June 19-21.

Interested veterans can fill out an application at honorflightnorthernnm.org or call 505-835-1993.
