Gov. Kathy Hochul tried her hand at comedy before a crowd of Albany wonks Wednesday night during an annual satirical performance by the state Capitol press corps.

Hochul — along with other Albany pols — found herself the butt of many jokes prepared by the Legislative Correspondents Association, which has been putting on the event for 122 years.

This year’s show — which was a “Barbie” theme following the 2023 summer blockbuster — included rebuttal addresses by Hochul, as well as Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R-Oswego) and a video prepared by Rep. Mike Lawler (R-Rockland).

“What did I run for?” a wig-clad reporter portraying the governor sang to Billie Eilish’s Academy Award-winning song “What Was I Made For?”

The crowd erupted to portrayals of familiar figures in state politics, including former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-Bronx).

Hochul got the last laugh, though.

“I wanted to make sure the room wasn’t empty so I asked 1,000 members of the New York National Guard to be here,” Hochul joked in reference to her sending the guard into Big Apple subways following a wave of underground attacks in March.

She also took jabs at the GOP, herself and The Post.

Though Mayor Eric Adams was not in attendance, he was the subject of some shots from capitol wags as well.

Off the bat, a reporter portraying one of Hizzoner’s most iconic chief allies, Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar (D-Queens) interrupted LCA president Zach Williams’ monologue.

“You couldn’t have a night of politics and comedy in New York without the funniest Democrat in the Empire State: Mayor Eric Adams,” she remarked to a round of laughter.

Over $10,000 from the event will go to the Regional Foodbank of Northeastern New York.
