Hitting the Books: Pueblo D60 career fair, CSU Pueblo research symposium coming in April

Pueblo School District 60 will be hosting a career fair on April 12 inside the Central High School Gymnasium, 216 E. Orman Ave.

The fair will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and include on-site interviews for positions throughout the district. Attendees also will have the opportunity to meet school principals and fellow educators. Individuals who are not a licensed teacher but have a bachelor's degree may be eligible to complete a certification program while working for the district, according to the Pueblo School District 60 Facebook page.

Available positions may include teacher, substitute teacher, tutor, counselor, custodian and nutrition services positions. More information can be found at D60jobs.org.

CSU Pueblo research symposium to be held April 5

Colorado State University Pueblo's annual Spring Symposium will be hosted at the campus' "Learn Innovate Network Collaborate" area on the second floor of the Library and Academic Resource Center.

The symposium will showcase original research, scholarly products and works from CSU Pueblo's undergraduate and graduate student body. Through the annual event, CSU Pueblo looks to "foster interaction among students, faculty and the local community."

Optimist Club of Pueblo Scholarship applications due April 30

Applications for the one-year, $1,500 Faye Rouch scholarship through the Optimist Club of Pueblo is due on April 30. The award will be granted to a Pueblo high school student graduating in 2024.

Applicants are preferred to be interested in social or youth work, must demonstrate financial needs, and must be attending a higher education institution within Colorado. A PDF of the application is available online on the Pueblo School District 60 website at pueblod60.org/cms/lib/CO50000472/Centricity/Domain/794/optimist%20club.pdf.

However, students do not have to be a Pueblo D60 student to apply. The application is open to all Pueblo-area high school students, including those who are homeschooled. Applications may to be mailed to the Optimist Club of Pueblo, P.O. Box 1525, Pueblo, CO, 81002.
