Hit Broadway musical comedy tour coming to the Gallo Center in Modesto. Here’s when

The Broadway hit “Mean Girls,” a musical comedy production, will pull into the Gallo Center. Classic rocker Jim Messina and band Pablo Cruise also will play at the venue. The State Theatre has comedy on its slate. These are just some of the entertainment options set for March 30-April 5 in the Modesto region.

“Mean Girls”

“Mean Girls” is a comedic hit Broadway musical from an award-winning creative team, including book writer Tina Fey. It’s the story of Cady Heron, who grew up on an African savanna, unprepared for the ways of her new home in suburban Illinois and a trio of frenemies, led by Regina George. The show comes to the Gallo Center.

The “Oasis in the Sun Tour” comes to the Gallo Center featuring Jim Messina and Pablo Cruise. Messina was half of the hit group Loggins and Messina and played with Buffalo Springfield and Poco. Pablo Cruise was founded in San Francisco in 1973, playing its smooth jams. The band’s lineup has changed over the years, but founding members David Jenkins and Cory Lerios remain.

Animaniacs: In Concert

Hear the voices of “Animaniacs,” the animated Warner Bros series produced by Steven Spielberg, at the Gallo Center. The singers perform famous songs from the cartoon series, backed by the original projected animation. The concert stars the show’s original composer Randy Rogel on piano and vocals from Rob Paulsen (Yakko & Pinky on “Animaniacs”; Raphael on “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) and Maurice LaMarche (The Brain on “Animaniacs”; The King in Disney’s “Frozen”; Kif & Calculon on “Futurama”).

Comedy show

We Own The Laughs: Modesto returns to the State Theatre with its lineup of comedians. This time there will be performances by Gabriel Alexander, Glory Magaña, Sasha Merci, Jesus Sepulveda and headliner Kiry Shabazz. The host for evening will be Terrence DeLane.

Chepa’s Kid Presents brings more laughter at the State Theatre. Modesto’s Glory Magaña will host the event that features Punny Pilipino, PX Floro, Julian “El Gordo Mamon” Gonzalez and Rudy Ortiz. The headliner for the night is JValentino.

Modesto Area Partners in Science presents “Extreme Science with the Science Wizard: David Hagerman” in a show for all ages at Modesto Junior College. Hagerman leads the audience on a journey through different fields of science. The show, featured on “America’s Got Talent,” brings humor along with education.
