Hire your favorite NYC street vendor for an event

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Ever wanted to have your favorite street vendor at your birthday or holiday party?

Street Vendor Project on Tuesday announced its new program to making vendors from halal food to portrait artists available for hire at events across the city.

The project is a win-win, offering New York’s “smallest businesses” economic and growth opportunities while bringing New Yorkers more access to the food they love, organizers said.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for groups, nonprofit organizations, and corporations to bring delicious street food (and art) into their meetings, gatherings, and celebrations – and support NYC’s microbusinesses at the same time,” said representatives of Street Vendor Project.

And many of the vendors have already gotten a test drive, serving cuisines like Latin-American and Caribbean food at events with Peloton, MoMA PS1 and a breakfast event with a local union, according to representatives from Street Vendor Project.

“From booking the vendor to setting up on the day of the parade, the entire process was seamless, and our vendor was great,” said Caroline Leddy of the union, Local 338 RDWU/UFCW.
