Hillary Clinton isn’t getting sworn in as president on Friday (despite winning the popular vote), but she did make one last subtle statement with her inauguration outfit: a white pantsuit. On Election Day, many women went to the polls in white pantsuits in honor of the suffragettes, who often wore white to marches. Hillary also wore a white pantsuit while accepting the Democratic nomination in July, and again during one of the presidential debates. Her signature look inspired the popular Facebook group Pantsuit Nation, where Hillary supporters shared stories of how she inspired them and later grieved her loss. After the election, Lady Gaga wore a Hillary-inspired white pantsuit to the American Music Awards to protest Donald Trump’s win. (Gaga has since been warned not to get political at the Super Bowl halftime show.)

“I'm here today to honor our democracy and its enduring values,” Hillary tweeted on Friday morning. “I will never stop believing in our country and its future.”
