Hijabi Women Dressed Like the "Avengers" at Comic Con

And Twitter is loving it.

All heroes may not wear capes, but thanks to one inspiring group at New York City's 2018 Comic Con, some definitely wear hijabs.

Over the weekend, a group of women attended the annual event in Avengers costumes like many other attendees. They dressed as characters like Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man, but the only difference was that they incorporated their hijabs into the looks. One of the cosplayers, Maliha Fairooz, posted a series of photos of her hero squad to Instagram, writing, "Hello Internet, I give you #HijabHeroes at #nycc2018."

Twitter immediately took note and applauded the group for bringing representation into a space where it isn't often seen. "YES TO THIS!! 💖💖💖 MORE HIJABI COSPLAY!!!" wrote one user. "Y'all look incredible and are fighting the good fight!" shared another. "A fantastic approach to our favourite Marvel superheroes, with love and respect to our wonderful Muslim sisters. :)" agreed one more amidst the sea of accolades for the group.

In the wake of Black Panther's massive success earlier this year — both critically and in the box office — the Marvel team has said that they will be working toward more diversity and inclusion in their future films. "New locations and lands that have cultural significance all their own, and continuing to tell stories that represent the world as it is, that represent people who perhaps haven’t seen themselves portrayed in this light in the past. We want to continue to do that,” Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feig told Entertainment Weekly.

Until we see it on the big screen, though, we're lucky to have a badass, stylish group of women taking this mission to the streets.
