Highway 99E head-on kills Redding man
A head-on crash in Los Molinos killed a Redding man and sent another man to the hospital with major injuries, reported the California Highway Patrol Red Bluff office.
It appears Kirk Brown, 54, of Redding was driving a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta south on Highway 99E near Palm Avenue when a 2015 Nissan Sentra traveling north allegedly crossed the double yellow lines and struck the Jetta head-on around 8:55 a.m.
Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles by emergency personnel, CHP said.
Brown was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff with major injuries.
The driver of the Jetta, whose name has not been released, was transported by medical helicopter to Enloe Medical Center in Chico where hospital personnel pronounced him deceased.
The crash is under investigation by the CHP, and it has not been determined whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the fatality.
