High pressure keeps us dry and warm while active weather remains out west

5 PM UPDATE:

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The perfect date, April 25th, was a tad warm for a light jacket as highs climbed into the low 80s under mostly sunny skies. Tonight, turning mild in the forecast with partly cloudy skies remaining.

Forecast remains dry for Friday as we continue to watch a fairly weak wedge front. However, you will likely notice a few more clouds throughout the day Friday and especially heading into Saturday.

Becoming sunnier again for the second half of the weekend and the start of the week as temperatures are set to climb well above average. High pressure will help keep the forecast dry through the weekend and for the beginning of the week.

Next week with high pressure at the surface and a northwest flow pattern aloft (typical for late spring and early summer) we will need to watch for thunderstorm complexes to drop out from any shortwaves. For this we have introduced stray showers and storms starting Tuesday through the remainder of the week.

Better chance of organized rainfall will come by Friday as a front tries to sweep through.
