Hey Guernsey County: Here's what you need to know to start your week

FREEPORT — Encino Energy is partnering with the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy Foundation, Guernsey County Commissioners, Surgent Construction and the Antrim Volunteer Fire Department for the groundbreaking of a new fire training facility in Guernsey County. The new facility will provide a training ground to first responders in Guernsey County and the surrounding areas. A check presentation and the groundbreaking will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Antrim VFD, 20217 Cadiz Road, Freeport.

BYESVILLE — The Colts Out for Blood blood drive will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Meadowbrook Middle School, 58615 Marietta Road. Sign up to donate at www.redcross.org or use the Red Cross donor app on your phone. All Meadowbrook students will receive some reward if someone donates for them. The Burger Brigade and Mix-It-Up Lemonade will be on-site, and there will be a Chinese auction. Every blood donor will receive a free T-shirt.

CAMBRIDGE — The Guernsey County Commissioners approved a motion to rescind a February resolution allocating $500,000 of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for EMS use. A second motion was approved to allocate $50,000 for Public Safety Equipment Purchases from the ARPA fund. These purchases will be determined by the Emergency Management Agency Director Ben Bonnell.

CAMBRIDGE — Ideal Road (County Road 34) will be closed between Wintergreen Road (Ohio 285) and Soggy Run Road (County Road 549) daily from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for culvert replacement. Walhonding Road (County Road 25) will be closed between Finley Road (Richland Township Road 252) and Grywalski Lane (Richland Township Road 2574) from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday for road repairs.
