Planning to see Wicked while it's in town? Or perhaps you've got tickets to another event at the Civic Center Music Hall and know you just won't have time to stop for a full dinner before heading to the show.

You're in luck because the Civic Center just launched it's "Small Bites" menu, a selection of items that can be preordered in the days leading up to your show, grab when you arrive and eat before heading to your seats.

"After months of meticulous preparation and passion-driven craftsmanship, we are delighted to announce the opening of our expanded food and beverage services. Our mission is to continue improving the theater experience for Civic Center Patrons," said Elizabeth Gray, Executive Director of the Civic Center Foundation.

The food on the small bites menu cannot be taken inside the theater, so guests are advised to arrive about 45 minutes before showtime to pick up their food and enjoy it before the show begins.

How does ordering food from the Civic Center menu work?

When you purchase a ticket to a performance at the Civic Center in advance, the venue will likely send you a text offering the opportunity to pre-order, if not you can visit the online ordering site and select the date of your show.

Orders must be placed three days in advance. Upon arrival at the show you will need to check in at the bar on the main floor. The lines for the bar can be lengthy, which is why the venue recommends early arrival. Once checked in, staff will provide you with a "beacon," and instructions to find seating on the main, Grand Tier, Mezzanine or Balcony levels and place the beacon on the table.

The beacon helps servers locate you with your food. It will light up red and buzz when a server is headed your way with your meal. Servers should be able to help or accommodate any additional needs when delivering food. They can also accept tips, but guests are asked to tip them directly rather than leaving money on tables.

Codes posted on tables are also available for submitting a form regarding any needs after a server has departed.

Visiting the Civic Center for Wicked Thursday night, I had the chance to try out the Roman classic flatbread and the smoked salmon bruschetta.

While the smoked salmon bruschetta was a fun bite with the creamy deviled egg spread and smoked salmon being countered by a simple pop of acid and freshness from the slaw, the Roman classic flatbread was a star.

Easily large enough to be shared by two or three people, the flavors were for me in perfect balance. Often when people say "crispy prosciutto" they under deliver, not the case on this flatbread. The salty prosciutto was cooked to perfection and when paired with the sweet fig jam, peppery arugula and tangy goat cheese it offered a bite I'd gladly order again and again.
