Hayley Atwell is coming back as “Agent Carter” but in a totally new way, and we’re pumped!
Actress Hayley Atwell blew us away in the cult favorite TV series Agent Carter. Although sadly only two seasons long, Agent Carter was a favorite of fans and critics alike. And for good reasons, Atwell beautifully portrayed Agent Peggy Carter, who is arguably one of the coolest characters in the Marvel universe.
For those who are unfamiliar, Carter helped found S.H.I.E.L.D, worked with the Howling Commandos, and helped Steve Rogers (aka Captain America) become Captain America, all in rad 1950s makeup and outfits. With that resume she’s arguably one of the coolest characters in the MCU!
So we were beyond psyched to hear about Atwell’s return as Carter – but this time in an animated series!
Turns out that Atwell has recently signed on to portray Carter in Disney XD’s Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars!
According to Screenrant, Atwell’s newest iteration of Agent Peggy Carter was just announced during Marvel’s Animation Panel at New York Comic Con yesterday, and we couldn’t be happier!
For those keeping track, Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars will serve as a continuation of the series initially named as Marvel: Avenger’s Assemble, which was renamed as Marvel’s Avengers: Ultron Revolution in 2013. Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars will act as the 4th season of the animated series.
More reasons to get excited for Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars, Screenrant also states that it’s that it’s believed to include the characters of Ant Man and Black Panther, who are equally awesome to Carter!
Although having Hayley Atwell voice Carter in an animated series is not quite what fans were probably hoping for (third season of Agent Cater please!) This is still seriously amazing news, because we can’t get enough of Atwell and her version of Agent Peggy Carter, and more of Atwell in the Marvel universe can only be a good a thing!
