Harvey Mayor Christopher Clark has made $168,750 while working for the Calumet City for the past three years, according to records obtained by the Daily Southtown.

Clark is Calumet City’s Freedom of Information Act officer, insurance investigator and director of the city’s Office of Professional Standards, records show.

From the time when Mayor Thaddeus Jones took office in May 2021 until the end of April 2024, when the records were requested, Clark received 75 payments for $2,250 distributed once every two weeks.

Calumet City ordinance states the mayor appoints all city officers, with the advice and consent of the City Council. Jones, who is also a Democratic state representative, appointed Clark for this role.

A spokesman for Jones and Calumet City did not respond to requests for comment.

Clark’s salary is nearly equal to the salaries of people with similar roles in other towns. Tinley Park, for example, has 20,000 more people than Calumet City, with a population of 56,000, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Tinley Park doesn’t have a Freedom of Information Act officer but instead has the deputy village clerk respond to Freedom of Information Act requests.

Deputy Village Clerk Laura Godette made $182,452 in the same time frame that Clark made $168,750. Godette does not hold any other government role, she told the paper in a phone call.
