Harris Health breaks ground on new Level 1 facility at LBJ Hospital | CW39 Houston

HOUSTON (KIAH) – Harris Health broke ground on a new Level I trauma-capable hospital as part of its mission to better serve the residents of Harris County for decades to come. The groundbreaking dedication for the new 12-story hospital on the campus of Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital follows the overwhelming public support for Harris Health's $2.5 billion bond referendum in 2023. The new hospital will have 390 private patient rooms and the potential to expand to 450. The hospital has plans to become the third adult Level I trauma hospital in Harris County and the first such hospital outside of the Texas Medical Center. The unnamed new hospital promises to be a monumental city landmark and trauma care leader not only for neighborhoods of northeast Houston and Harris County, but across the southeast Texas region as well.
