Harlem Globetrotter coaches New Orleans middle school basketball team to victory
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — With no gym to practice their game, there’s no problem.
Not for the Benjamin Franklin Middle School Basketball Bears.
They made do with what was, until just a few months ago, just a parking lot on the side of their school.
WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood who says these bears know how to play to win.
They just won the Inspire NOLA League Championship.
Their no-nonsense commander-in-chief is Head Coach Sandra Hodge.
When she’s not on the job as the school’s security guard, Coach Hodge knows her way around the basketball business.
From 1987 to 1993, she played as one of the first women with the Harlem Globetrotters.
Her name back then on the team.
Sweetness.
