  • April 19 Music at the Park – Singer-songwriter Joseph Velasquez will perform at the ABQ Food Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

  • April 19 Senior Tech Connect Fair – This 50+ event aims to give a chance for older adults to explore today’s technology. The event is free at Manzno Mesa Multigenerational Center from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

  • April 19-20 The Show – Albuquerque’s longest-running comedy show happens every Friday and Saturday at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.

  • April 20 Downtown Growers’ Market – The market happens every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Robinson Park.

  • April 20 Trek Echelon Saturday Road Ride – The ride begins at Slow Burn Coffee at 821 Mountain Rd. at 8:30 a.m.

  • April 20 Albuquerque’s Birthday Celebration – The Department of Arts & Culture is celebrating the Duke City’s 318th birthday with food and live music in Old Town. The event runs from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • April 20 Great New Mexico Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival – It’s all in the name. Live music will also be provided by SHiSTR and Traveler in Pain. The event runs from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • April 20-21 Flea Market – Head to ExpoNM to check out trinkets, charms, and more. Admission is $10 per car or $2 for walk-ups.

  • April 21 ABQ BioPark hosting e-waste recycling event – From 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., people are invited to bring old cell phones, keyboards, and other electronics to Tingley Beach for recycling.

  • April 24 Albuquerque Songwriters’ Cooperative Open Mic Night at Ancora – Every Wednesday night, Ancora Cafe and Bakery offers an open mic from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • April 19 Dive-In Movie in Los Alamos – Come enjoy the movie “Migration” floating in the Leisure Lagoon or in the bleachers at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center.

  • April 19 NMSU-A Spring Fling 2024 – The carnival hosted by the NMSU-A Student Government and Student Success teams begins at 3:00 p.m. at the Tays Center in Alamogordo.

  • April 19-21 Trail Days 10th Anniversary Celebration – The Continental Divide Trail Coalition will be celebrating in Silver City this weekend.

  • April 20 Empowering Diverse Minds – The Taos Public Library & Friends of the Library are hosting a symposium on autism for adults and school-age children beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Taos Public Library.

  • April 20 Aspen Song Kids – Sacred Spiral Book Tour & Gallery Show is an all-ages event in Meow Wolf’s Rainbow Rainbow room. The event is free and begins at 12:00 p.m.

  • April 20 3rd Annual Car Show – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Otero County hosts their third annual car show and vendor fair at 201 Dale Scott Avenue in Alamogordo. The event begins at 10:00 a.m.

  • April 20 Saturday Farmers Market – The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market is open year-round on Saturdays in the heart of the Santa Fe Railyard.

  • April 20 Tijeras Earth Day cleanup event – There will be five dump sites set up for people to dump any trash they clean up. Each site will have supplies that can be picked up including gloves and bags. The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • April 21 Sunday Chess Club – Popolo’s Games in Taos will host this free chess club open to all ages beginning at 1:00 p.m.

  • April 25 Baila Las Cruces – Learn to dance with free lessons at Plaza de Las Cruces. The event begins at 7:00 p.m.

Albuquerque Notices

🔶 City of Albuquerque launching Native American housing survey –The survey is the first of its kind that focuses on Native American housing needs and experiences. The city’s Office of Equity and Inclusion tribal liaison Kena Chavez says this information can be used to give the City of Albuquerque housing suggestions.

🔶 Registration open for Albuquerque Little Theatre summer camps – Albuquerque Little Theatre Education and Youth Program offers classes, workshops, and summer camps that cater to students of all ages. Kids can register for Disney’s Descendants musical camp, the play actors mini camp, the Play Builders summer camp, and more.

🔶 Albuquerque looking for medical sobering contractor for Gateway Center – Following a multi-million dollar grant, the city is now looking for someone to run medical sobering operations. To find a medical sobering contractor, the city is accepting proposals from non-profit or government providers until April 19.

🔶 NMDOT hosting public meeting on ‘S-curve’ portion of Albuquerque I-25 – On April 24, the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will host a meeting at the Central New Mexico Community College Smith Brasher Hall (717 University Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106). The meeting will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

🔶 Water Authority receives award for Los Padillas water project – The award is being given for the project to bring clean drinking water to the Los Padillas neighborhood in Albuquerque’s South Valley. Completed in 2020, the project made clean municipal drinking water accessible to about 200 homes in the area.

🔶 New Mexico State Fair holding auditions to sing the National Anthem – The live auditions will be at the Boxcar Stage from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the EXPO New Mexico on August 6. To audition live, you must sign up by August 5.

🔶 Sandia Labs hosting Small Business Opportunities fair – Sandia Labs is seeking small businesses to subcontract to do work for the labs. Sandia is open to working with a variety of different businesses for many different services. The event is May 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Marriot Albuquerque on Louisiana Boulevard.

🔶 Forest service asking for input on proposed burn near Albuquerque – The plan is to address nearly 3,000 acres of land in the Sandia Ranger District, and in Bernalillo and Sandoval Counties. The Forest Service says the project would reduce wildfire risk to nearby communities and restore forest structure. The deadline to submit comments is May 3, 2024.

🔶 Registration open for Bernalillo County summer camps – The summer camps run from June 10 to July 26, and registration is now open at this link. The seven-week program costs $290. The summer programs run from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

🔶 ABQ BioPark hosting its “Great Ape-ril” events – All through the month, the primate care staff at gives guests special opportunities to learn more about great apes. On Saturdays, April 6, 13, and 20, staff will set up special discovery stations near primate habitats.

🔶 Celebrate the Gila Wilderness 100th anniversary at the historic Mogollon Cemetery – The event is limited to 70 participants so anyone planning to attend is encouraged to RSVP soon by reaching out to Cordelia Rose by phone or text at 575-313-1002.

🔶 Rio Grande Theatre offering 2024 Summer Camp – Registration is now open for the inaugural year of the Rio Grande Theatre Camp. Theater and tech classes will be offered. The last day to register is May 24 at 4:00 p.m.

🔶 Applications open for PNM Resources Grants – Grants are offered to qualified 501c3 nonprofits. Examples of qualifying programs include programs for the developmentally disabled, veterans, seniors, formerly incarcerated, unhoused, or youth interested in STEAM or Agricultural education.

🔶 ‘Rust’ armorer sentenced to 18 months in prison for fatal movie set shooting – In the sentence reading, the judge read the definition of remorse to Gutierrez, and said that she showed none. Gutierrez is required to serve at least 85% percent of her sentence.

🔶 Cochiti Lake camping fees increasing for some sites starting April 15 – At Cochiti, campsites with running water will increase from $12 to $15 per site. Fees for other sites at Cochiti Lake will not increase, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says. At the Riana Campground at Abiquiu Lake, tent sites will increase from $8 to $10, trailer sites will increase from $12 to $15, and sites with electrical and water hookups will increase from $16 to $20 per site.

🔶 Report: New Mexico needs 40,000 workers to reach national average workforce participation – The report comes from the Legislative Finance Committee which makes recommendations to lawmakers and has been tracking the state’s labor industry for years.

🔶 New Mexico laws going into effect in spring – Lawmakers recently approved a wide range of bills, from gun-related regulations to adjusted requirements students must meet to graduate high school. Many of those new laws go into effect on May 15.

🔶 Alamogordo Animal Control adoption event – Pet adoption fees will be $40 for the entire month of April. Contact the office at 575-439-4330 for more information.

🔶 New Mexico History Museum to host free community event at the Palace of the Governors – The event is to celebrate the completion of five years of rehabilitation work at the Palace. “History Homecoming: Past, Present, Palace” will take place on Sunday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Palace of the Governors.

🔶 New Mexico offering debt relief for healthcare workers – Workers must meet certain qualifications, such as working in an eligible occupation or under an eligible healthcare license. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
