Habitat for Humanity of Smith County hosts pup house competition to raise funds

TYLER, Texas (KETK) — The Habitat for Humanity of Smith County (HFHSC) held their ‘Pup Houses in the Plaza’ on Friday in Tyler to help raise funds for their nonprofit.

Tyler non-profit donates pet oxygen masks to fire departments in East Texas

According to a release, five dog houses that were built by local companies and Tyler ISD will be auctioned off on April 20 at HFHSC’s Celebration Gala and Auction. Those who participated in the fundraiser partnered up with pet-related nonprofits.

The 2024 builders and their partners were:

  • Fitzpatrick Architects with O’Malley Alley Cat Rescue

  • Park Central Tyler with Angel Paws Advocates

  • Root Construction with Therapet

  • SCI Construction Ltd. with Pets Fur People

  • Tyler ISD Career & Technology Center with SPCA of East Texas

Mineola Purple Heart recipient gets home fixed up

The Habitat for Humanity of Smith County is a nonprofit organization that makes homeownership possible for low income working families in Smith County. The nonprofit said they have helped complete nearly 1,300 critical repair projects since 2009.

Those in attendance were able to cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award. The pup houses will then be on display in the Plaza Tower Atrium until April 20 when the auction will be held. Anyone interested can purchase tickets for the gala and action here.
