Guardians announce opening day roster

(WJW) – The Cleveland Guardians announced the roster for their season opener against the Oakland Athletics.

The Guardians kick off the season on the road Thursday, March 28, with a late opening pitch at 10:07 p.m. EST.

Guardians ace pitcher Shane Bieber will be taking the mound against Alex Wood.

According to the Guardians, the roster is made up of 12 players acquired through the MLB Draft, seven players through trades, six free agents and one through waivers.

According to the Guardians, RHP Ben Lively, RHP Xzavion Curry, RHP Gavin Williams and LHP San Hentges are on the 15-day injured list. INF Angel Martínez was placed on the 10-day injured list.

Additionally, RHP James Karinchak and RHP Trevor Stephan are on the 60-day injured list.

Guardians fans can watch the game on Bally Sports Great Lakes or listen to the Guardians Radio Network.

The Guardians home opener will be April 8, the same day as the total solar eclipse. The team faces off against the against the Chicago White Sox at 5:10 p.m.
