WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Community Chaplain Response Team is passing out free food in Halstead to people who were affected by storms.

The group is giving out water, meals and snacks for free. A person with the group said yesterday, they gave out 500 hamburgers and hot dogs.

“It’s one less thing that somebody has to worry about. When we left last night at 9:30, 10 o’clock, there were still people without power, so it’s just, ‘Hey, do you happen to have more water, do you happen to have a hamburger or a hotdog or just a snack to get us through,’ and we’re happy to provide that,” Latisha Butler said.

The CCRT, Newton Ministerial Alliance and the Salvation Army pay for the food.
