As the tremors reverberated through the region, residents didn't just run for cover — they turned to humor, flooding social media with memes and light-hearted reactions to the earthquake that rocked the region.

Here are some of the reactions people had following the earthquake.

One man even managed to get the quake on video while playing his guitar.

As the tremors subsided and residents began assessing damages, the memes continued to flow, providing a moment of comic relief in an otherwise tense day.

"The best thing about the NY/NJ earthquake is that now we get to be as annoying and dramatic as Californians for the next 48 hours," quipped one Twitter user, earning a flurry of likes and retweets.

The Parsippany Police Department, engaged in a little humor on facebook when a resident asked them how the roads are. To which the Police Department responded, "they were a little shaky for a few seconds, but back to normal now."

Another post that made us smile from Jackie Rodriguez, of Clifton, "Was sitting on my couch and felt trembling! I said to my Mom ‘was that an earthquake?’ I guess so since I see everyone posting on the feed!"

Katie Moreno, of Boonton, said, "Was at the bank outside and just like the song says. I FELT THE EARTH MOVE UNDER MY FEET!!!"

On the Lincoln Park NJ Flood Talk Facebook page, some residents are still dealing with flooding from the rain we just got this week, and so Perry Rome posted some funny words, "Wish the earthquake would drain the Pompton River... Yo yo yo...." and a friend Steve Smith, responded, "Floods, earthquakes... dare I ask what's next?!"
