Green Bay teen who was reported missing arrested in Florida, accused of stealing his father’s vehicle

(WFRV) – Two people from northeastern Wisconsin were arrested in Florida after authorities learned that the vehicle they were driving was reported stolen.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, on April 23 around 9:20 a.m., a deputy pulled over a vehicle with a Wisconsin tag that was reportedly going 31 mph in a 20-mph school zone. The driver was reportedly identified as 17-year-old Jayden Reed from Green Bay.

Reed told authorities he was new to the area and didn’t know he was driving through a school zone. He was reportedly given a written warning.

A couple of hours later, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center got information that a vehicle matching the plate of the one that was stopped earlier had just been reported stolen. It was also learned that Reed was entered as a missing person by the Green Bay Police Department.

Authorities ended up finding the vehicle at a gas station and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. Reed and a passenger, identified as 18-year-old Katie Stevens from Seymour, were removed from the vehicle.

Deputies determined that Reed stole the vehicle from his father and left Wisconsin two or three days before he was stopped in Florida. Reed was arrested for Grand Theft Auto.

Stevens said she was traveling with Reed and her boyfriend. She claimed that her boyfriend was arrested on their way to Florida. Authorities ended up arresting her for Grand Theft Auto and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.

I’m incredibly proud of our hardworking team for quickly responding to alerts for a missing child and stolen vehicle. A runaway in a stolen car is a recipe for disaster, but due to our team’s efforts a stolen car was safely recovered, a missing juvenile was found and arrested before anyone could get hurt, and his adult accomplice gets to spend the remainder of her Florida vacation in the Green Roof Inn.
