‘We are so grateful for their support’: Miracle Riders leave for annual trip

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Miracle Riders have hit the road to raise awareness for Columbus State University’s nursing program and raise funds for a new neonatal intensive care unit, also known as NICU, simulation lab.

Fourteen riders are traveling nearly 9,000 miles to visit 29 states with cities named “Columbus.”

The Miracle Riders left from Frank D. Brown Hall the morning of May 6.

Riders held a press conference where words of encouragement and a prayer was given. Friends, family, and members of the community gathered to send off the riders, including Ross White the newest rider.

White spoke with WRBL about what he expects out of this ride.

I have no idea.  I have been told that, you know, on the road, you know, anything and everything can happen, you know, rain, snow, shine, we’re going through it. And so, you know, I’m expecting a lot of fun, a lot of, you know, camaraderie between everybody. And, you know, I’m really excited to kind of see some of these other laboratories that we’re going to get to see on the road. So, it’s just going to be a fun time.”

The journey will take three weeks while it fundraises for the CSU Nursing program. The Director of the School of Nursing at Columbus State University shared her thoughts about this year’s ride.

Since 2021, the Miracle Riders have supported the nursing program and have raised almost half a million dollars. The fundraising goal the riders have set is for one million dollars.

The Miracle Riders mission is to make a difference in at least one child’s life. Men on this ride are looking forward to telling the story of the Fountain City and are committed to the children who will benefit from their efforts.
