Grand Rapids Public Schools closed Friday due to snowy conditions

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids Public Schools will be closed Friday due to snowy weather.

The district said Superintendent Leadriane Roby called the snow day after administrators checked road conditions early Friday morning and the forecasted snow totals for Friday. The district noted that the administrative offices will remain open.

Closings and Delays

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for West Michigan until 12 a.m. Saturday. Areas may get 3 to 7 inches of snow, creating slippery road conditions during the morning and evening commutes.

Several other school districts closed Friday as well, including Byron Center Public Schools, Grandville Public Schools, Lowell Area Schools and Wyoming Public Schools.

Grand Rapids Public Schools was closed Tuesday due to the boil water advisory that affected a large swath of Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids Township for three days.
