Grammy-nominated country music star set to return to the Grange Fair grandstand this summer

The Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair has announced its fourth performer of this summer’s fair — two-time Grammy nominee and country music star Jo Dee Messina.

The Grange Fair announced on its Facebook page Thursday night that Messina would be performing on Friday, Aug. 16. This will be her second appearance at the fair, after she performed there for the first time in 2017.

Messina topped the Billboard country music charts on six separate occasions and is the singer of popular songs such as “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” “Bye Bye,” “Lesson in Leavin’,” and many more.

A country music powerhouse in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, Messina got her first Grammy nomination in 2001 for the song “That’s the Way.” She received her second in the following year for the song “Bring on the Rain,” featuring Tim McGraw.

Messina joins a growing list of musicians at the fair, including ‘90s country music star Aaron Tippin, Beach Boys tribute band Surf’s Up, and ‘50s and ‘60s rock ‘n’ roll tribute band The Van Dells.

Grandstand shows are free, but admission to the fair is required.

In years past, the fair has hosted performers like Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Morgan Wallen, Garth Brooks and many more of country music’s biggest stars of both the past and present.

The 2024 Grange Fair will be held Aug. 16-24. For more information, visit the fair’s website at grangefair.com.
