Grab free solar eclipse glasses at Penn Station in NYC
NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – While some will travel upstate to view the solar eclipse on April 8, New Yorkers can still view a partial eclipse in the city – with protective glasses, of course.
And the state is giving out protective glasses at the LIRR ticket window at Penn Station’s Moynihan Train Hall from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Free glasses will also be available in Long Island at the welcome center on the Long Island Expressway – but at both locations, daily supplies will be limited, according to state representatives.
The “I Love NY” branded protective gear is limited to two pairs per person and will only be available while supplies last.
“The total solar eclipse will be a once-in-a-generation experience for our state, and it’s critical that New Yorkers have the tools and information to enjoy it safely,” Governor Kathy Hochul said.
If you don’t grab a custom New York pair, the safest way to go is with ISO Certified glasses, a list of which can be found on the American Astronomical Society’s website.
