Goodman Police Department receives donation for new body cameras

GOODMAN, Mo. — The Goodman Police Department has a new addition to its force.

Three new Miufly body cameras. Goodman local Kirk Brewer donated $600 to the department to buy the new equipment.

Goodman Police Chief Samuel Townsend says the cameras will benefit the department by gathering evidence during traffic stops and other situations the department responds to.

Plus, he says they can help protect residents and officers.

“It holds officers accountable as well as the public and being able to see because sometimes someone makes a traffic stop. They said they weren’t going over the speed limit or they weren’t doing that. And so being able to have that bodycam footage of what actually happened, you know, it’s not one person’s word against another. It is the live footage. And it is great and we’re so lucky to have that,” said Samuel Townsend, Goodman Police Chief.

Chief Townsend adds, the department had body cameras two years ago, but they were outdated, and didn’t always work properly.
