Glove House, Inc. to hold child abuse prevention event

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Glove House, Inc. in Elmira will be holding an event next week to raise awareness of its services and efforts to protect children and keep families together in celebration of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

The Pinwheels for Prevention event will take place on Monday, April 15, at 10 a.m. at the Glove House located at 460 West Church Street.

Staff will join Dr. McGriff to plant pinwheels at the Glove House headquarters to support child abuse and neglect prevention for the month of April and all year round.

“Though pinwheel planting may appear lighthearted, Monday’s event focuses on a serious matter,” said Dr. Keith McGriff, President & CEO at Glove House. “We are dedicated to addressing child abuse and maltreatment throughout New York State while offering families essential resources to cultivate healthy environments for children.”

The pinwheels that will be planted at the organization will be blue and silver, which is a national symbol for child abuse prevention.

According to the organization, the pinwheels are meant to symbolize playfulness, joy and a childhood that is free from fear and trauma.
