‘It gives me chills’: Grandmother speaks out against Purcell daycare following abuse allegations

PURCELL, Okla. (KFOR) — The Department of Human Services is investigating an at-home daycare in Purcell after parents placed a hidden recording device in their child’s diaper bag.

Deborah Faucette said her two grandchildren ages one and three have been attending Bright Beginnings Childcare since December.

“I’ve cried until my eyes have swollen,” said Faucette.

After an audio recording from inside the daycare was brought to life, Faucette said she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

In the audio you can hear the daycare staff members yelling ” Go now! Now go! Walk!” at Faucette’s one-year-old grandson.

“It gives me chills to listen to my grandson, the youngest one, cry,” said Faucette.

You can also hear a woman yelling “Aziah! You’re fine, now hush. He’s a big crybaby anyways, Aziah! That is enough, hush!”

Faucette said her family sat down with DHS and CPS. She said her grandson’s response when asked about the daycare owner has left her and his parents in disbelief.

“The question was asked what Alius thought of Miss Wendy and of course, the answer was her hurt me,” said Faucette.

News 4 tried to talk with the daycare owner but did not get an answer.

A sign that previously sat in front of the at-home daycare was no longer there as of Thursday.

However, the grandmother of three said the issue is deeper than just the daycare shutting it’s doors.

“When the complaints are filed, the frustrations within the system to do an accurate reporting,” said Faucette. “I know that these wounds will heal. They’re young enough to prayerfully forget, but the damage is already done.”

DHS would not comment anymore on the investigation.

Faucette has started a GoFundMe hoping to raise money so the children’s parents are able to hire an attorney. If you would like to donate, click here.
