Speaking in a live podcast with Vogue, Gigi Hadid, who is the current cover star of American Vogue, thanked social media for playing a big part in the success of her career and addressed comments made by ’90s supermodel Stephanie Seymour that she and Kendall Jenner are “bi**** of the moment.”

“It’s a way that people get to know us other than a face on a page,” Hadid said about the world of social media.

“We are given the opportunity to spread our wings in so many different industries because people get to know us; they start to understand different levels of our personalities and our talents,” said Hadid.

“Obviously, Cindy [Crawford] and Claudia [Schiffer] and Naomi [Campbell] — no one can do it better than them in the time that they were in.”

However, she added that she thinks “the reason why Kendall and Cara [Delevingne] and Karlie [Koss] and I are kind of … able to have this moment right now is because the industry needed a change to be able to welcome in another generation.”

Seymour has apologized for her remarks, which she felt were misconstrued, and claimed there was no ill intent.

Hadid has taken her share of abuse online — not just from other models — about her appearance, and she called out online trolls.

“Everyone is affected by the pressures that come from being on social media, and we’re all human. I’ll never say that it doesn’t affect me,” she said.

“I never didn’t like my body. I was very athletic, and I was proud of why my body was the way it was.”
