On Monday, Israeli troops shot dead 58 largely unarmed Palestinians in Gaza and a further two were killed the next day.

Thousands were wounded as they attempted to protest Donald Trump’s decision to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Jerusalem is holy land for the Muslim, Jewish and Christian faiths, and is therefore contested over by both Palestine and Israel.

Trump's political move was widely condemned, from the British Government through to the half-Palestinian Hadid sisters, who believed that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was not best solved by a foreign power simply naming Jerusalem as the capital as Israel.

Last December, model Bella Hadid took to Instagram to voice her concerns over the President's decision and also went to a free Palestine demonstration.

For years, Israel has been accused of using disproportionate force against Palestinians in Gaza, and the latest ‘clash’ appears to have confirmed this for many.

In this week’s conflict the death toll included six children, leading many to criticise the extremity of the violence. One such person appears to be Gigi Hadid, who took to her Instagram to share some information.

Screen grabbing a post by her cousin, Lina Hadid, the Victoria’s Secret model underlined the caption, ‘almost one million Palestinians were violently forced out of their country and never allowed back to Palestine.’ Referencing the 1948 exodus that saw hundreds of thousands of Palestinians become refugees as they fled or were expelled from the area that had been claimed by Israel.

The model, who has shown her pride for her Muslim-Palestinian heritage, also shared a screenshot of a news story describing Monday’s deaths, underlining the passage:

‘It was the highest Palestinian death toll in a single day…since the 2014 Gaza war.

Of the hundreds of wounded, the Ministry of Health said at least 74 were children, 23 were women, and eight were journalists.’

Gigi then took to Twitter to further explain her views, as well as giving her hope for a peaceful resolution to this decades-long conflict.

The model quickly lamented that her words were being twsited, and reaffirmed her wish for peace, whilst airing her frustrations with social media.

Hopefully these tragic deaths will not be in vain, and peace can come soon.
