Germantown ranked a top suburb for retirees by This Old House

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Ready to retire? You might want to look at the Memphis suburb of Germantown, which ranked high on a list of best suburbs for retirees, according to This Old House.

Germantown made No. 17 on the list. But it scored No. 1 for financial well-being.

“With perks like no state income tax or tax on retirement income and just 4.6% of the senior population living below the poverty line, Germantown is the #1 ranked retiree suburb for financial well-being,” This Old House wrote.

Tennessee’s lack of income tax put several of the state’s suburbs on the list. The Nashville suburbs of Brentwood and Franklin were No. 1 and No. 5, respectively.

Collierville was also high on the list at No. 38, with Bartlett at No. 43.
