Georgetown police are searching for a man who kidnapped a woman who was out walking and sexually assaulted her. The woman, who is in her mid-30s, was later released by her captor, police said in a news release.

The woman told investigators she was walking to a convenience store early Wednesday morning when a vehicle stopped in the 100 block of W. Valley and N. Main streets, according to the release. The male driver got out of the vehicle, threatened her with a large knife and then bound her wrists with zip ties, police said.

He forced her into the vehicle and drove her to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her, the release said. It said he then drove her back to the location where he kidnapped her and left her there. The incident happened between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m., police said. The secluded area where he drove her has not been identified, the release said.

The victim described the man as being white with long red hair and a long red beard, according to the release. He was driving a metallic silver hatchback that was smaller than an SUV, police said.
